The theme for FUSION in 2012 is ELEVATE. So what does elevate really mean? Elevate means to lift up or make higher.

The theme for FUSION in 2012 is ELEVATE. So what does elevate really mean? Elevate means to lift up or make higher. In Colosians 3:2 Paul stated to the Church that they need to set their effections their attention on things above not on things of this world. This needs to be our cry. “GOD I ELEVATE MY ATTENTION ON YOU!” Unlike any other time in history has our society needed a move of God. Our society has been more focused on what is good for them, what is going to effect them, what is going to benefit them, what the world is going to give them? We have protesters living in front of banks demanding more, you have have politicians that you are unsure if they are morally sound, you have shootings in stores, churches, and in schools. We need a move of God. Our Savior needs to be lifted high. Lets set our attention on things above not on things of this world. Now is the time for us to ELEVATE.

Why do I always live in want? Why cant I get ahead? Why does it feel like I am always dry and never refreshed? Those are all good questions, the true question is this? Have I been inspecting my fruit?

Why do I always live in want? Why cant I get ahead? Why does it feel like I am always dry and never refreshed? Those are all good questions, the true question is this? Have I been inspecting my fruit? If you do you my have revealed to you that you are not abiding in God and God in you and so the outcome is a fruitless or dead life. See are lives are likened to trees in the bible and not just any trees but fruit bearing trees. If a tree is not producing a farmer will consider it dead.

John 15:1-5 says: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”

How do we produce much fruit? What is the Lord saying?

In the modern world, the work ethic is, achieve and produce by working longer and harder! The focus is on getting results through human effort — we’ve become product oriented and the bottom line is……the bottom line! But God’s way runs contrary to this approach — His way is much more oriented toward process and relationship rather than performance and production. He IS interested in results which He calls “fruit”; but not by pushing or egging us on to work harder or longer.

The Lord’s way is to work with and through us so that every result or product comes out of our abiding in Him, since without Him WE CAN DO NOTHING.

This is opposed to of the culture we live in today, and to human nature in general. Think about it — we’re constantly bombarded with self-help books promoting self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-control — our society is all about SELF! But God’s way of success produces the results which He values; results which are not produced by self-effort, but which grow out of an intimate relationship with Him, in which we seek to constantly abide.

The only way we can become abundantly fruitful is to understand the Lord’s fruit-bearing process. As we lay down self-effort, our natural human independence, and seek communion with Him, abiding in the Vine, then His power, His will, and His desires will be realized in our lives, which then, will bear fruit that remains throughout eternity!

The question is are you a seeker or are you a soaker? Soakers just come to take everything they can get and dont really give anything to God in return.

The question is are you a seeker or are you a soaker? Soakers just come to take everything they can get and dont really give anything back. Simeon was not a soaker he was very much a seeker. Check out the next few verses and learn from Simeon’s example.

Luke 2:25-32 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

Simeon must have been a remarkable man, one who continued to seek God all his life. The Lord rewarded him by finally revealing to him the infant Yeshua’s identity as Messiah of Israel and Savior of the world, and allowing Simeon to actually hold and bless the “lamb of God”.

Why did God reveal himself to Simeon? What was his secret? I believe it was that he never stopped seeking and patiently waiting. Yeshua said, “Seek and ye shall find.” The Greek really emphasizes the continuing aspect of the Lord’s exhortation, literally, “Keep seeking and you will find.”

Everyday you are getting older, that’s a given…but do you want to age badly?…then stop seeking. But if, as you age, you desire an exciting, and even youthful spirit-filled life as a believer, then learn a secret from Simeon, a man who aged really well. Don’t stop seeking God, or waiting upon Him!” This Godly man discovered that, even in old age – God will reveal awesome things to you!

The REVOLUTION has begun. In September we launched a campus ministrys to Nitro and Huntington High Schools. The campus ministry is called CAMPUS ONE. The ONE title came as the Lord woke me at 3:00AM and directed me to Romans 5 where in verse 19 it says; “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.” The word ONE was ringing in my spirit and I asked God what He was showing me. Very specifically God said, “ONE SCHOOL, ONE BODY, ONE GOD.” God was saying that Campus one will be a ministry made up of several denominations, backgrounds, and diversities. In order to unite one school we need to become ONE under the banner of Jesus Christ. We are believing God for an awakening in the hearts of students on Huntington and Nitros campuses.

Nitro – 3:00 pm every Tuesday

The thing that amazes me most about Paul was the fact that he was writing these encouraging words to the Colossian church while in prison. Chained to a wall in what some would consider an inhumane environment

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. – Colossians 4:2-6

The thing that amazes me most about Paul was the fact that he was writing these encouraging words to the Colossian church while in prison. Chained to a wall in what some would consider an inhumane environment. By today’s standards that prison would be investigated by news reporters as a torture chamber of sorts, no working restroom, unsanitary food, the smell would be enough to make you sick to your stomach just walking close by. In the midst of all that Paul had these encouraging words to say.

Lets look at our lives and lets be perfectly honest. Compared to Paul’s situation we have it made. We are not in chains and yet we complain when someone doesn’t look at us with approving eyes, or we get mad if our meal at the restaurant is not cooked to perfection. We are spoiled brats at times. Paul had a conversion experience that changed his heart and this same experience needs to happen in our hearts that we look at our lives as an offering to others. When you do that you begin to see the best in others because you are not looking down on anyone because the love of God is working in your heart.

Jesus’ greatest message was the Sermon on the Mount. He layed out the plan for serving others in love. In doing so you ultimately lead others because love prevails over darkness. Listen to the words of Jesus and lets look at how we may as Paul states it, “be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so we may know how to answer everyone.”

Jesus said:

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, or they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

This is a standard by which Paul received a revelation on how to conduct your life to others. Lets be a poor in spirit, meek, hungry and thirsty for right standing before God generation that loves others. Lets give our lives over to God so we may have the right answers to a world with questions.

By Pastor Shawn

I love the story of Jacobs Latter and of Jacobs vivid prophetic dream. There have been so many different interpretations of this vision/dream. Many of the interpretations have been so far fetched and out there but some have been very intriguing but I believe that what Jacob was seeing in this dream was so significant that it is worth taking a look at. Check out the following verses of scripture from Genesis 28.

Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran. 11 So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. 12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: “I am the LORD God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.” 17 And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!” Genesis 28:10-13

Jacob awoke from this dream and this was not just any typical dream this was what is called a prophetic dream or in simpler terms a God dream a dream that God gives us to speak of things to come or things we need to pray for. Unlike me my wife has had these type of dreams. At first they seem so far fetched then something takes place and I just have to shake my head and say, are you kidding me, SHUT UP!

Lets look at the two things he saw and what specifically they mean. The first is he said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.” The question is was he talking about a physical place? NO. He wasn’t in a physical building he was out in a field. So was he talking about a group of people? No he wasn’t near any physical person. He was seeing John 1:14; “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” He was seeing Jesus the one that was to come, the one that would make it possible for man to become carriers of Glory.

Have you ever been in a service or a place and some people are having their lives totally turned upside down and others are checking their text messages or facebooks on their phone, unaffected by what is happening. That is God coming and moving within our earthly vessels. This is what Jacob was seeing.

The next thing or second thing Jacob mentioned was, “This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!” He witnessed in this dream that the lives of these vessels of God would be the gate way to heaven or heaven on earth. The bible says, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7. Our vessels or earthly bodies naturally have the potential to carry Gods excellency of his power.

We need to realize that our lives are important, Romans 8:28 says, ”And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” God has purpose for our lives but we will never realize the full potential of our lives with out embracing Gods love and allowing Him to speak to our hearts the plans and thoughts that he has for us. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” This speaks of destiny a life of more than what we could ever imagine. See God wants to do far above anything we could ask or think. Lets embrace this life and go after the deeper things of God. See deep is calling out to deep. The deep things of God are reaching out for the deep rooted potential within our lives, lets go after it.

As leaders we must ask ourselves this question: “What is the goal of discipleship and where are we leading people?” Paul knew where he was leading people when he said in Galatians 4:19, “My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you.” The Message Bible puts it this way, “Until Christ’s life becomes visible in your lives.” As leaders our goal must be to lead people to Jesus until His life becomes visible in their lives. As we encourage those we lead to go deeper in the Word, to live a life of prayer, to practice the discipline of fasting, our goal is the same: to encounter Jesus. It if from an encounter with Jesus that the fruit we long to see in those we lead will manifest. As we cultivate an atmosphere for encounters in His Presence life begins to flow and that’s when change happens.

What is the fruit of encountering Jesus? What is the result of being in the Presence of God?

LOVE: A life of passionate love for Jesus is unlocked
Our life was never meant to be a life of disciplines; it was always meant to be a life of passionate love, this is what we were created for! The disciplines of the Christian life should always result in a heart on fire for God. But how does one sustain a life of passion? Better yet, how does one increase in love for Jesus year after year? John 3:16, the most quoted Scripture ever, makes it very clear that “God so loved the world.” Then in John 15:9 Jesus instructs us to “abide in (His) love.” It is absolutely critical that we, as leaders, encounter the radical love of Jesus and learn to abide in that love, because it is in that encounter that our love for Jesus comes alive. John makes a profound statement in his first letter when he says, “We love Him because He first loved us.” Our love for God is directly related to His love for us. As we encounter Jesus and His passionate love for us, our lives become rich with love for Him. And as we lead others into encounters with the Presence of God their hearts become alive to God too. Anytime our love for God is dim it is only because we have distanced ourselves from His love for us.

HOLINESS: A life that is set apart to Jesus for His glory
As we survey the landscape of this generation it is easy to recognize the struggle to fully give everything to God. This generation has more options then any generation in history: 900 TV channels, the ability to connect with people around the world instantly, access to the internet at anytime of day in any place, travel, finance, and more. I believe we are going to see the greatest generation arise in the church because they will choose Jesus in the midst of options. When I asked my wife to marry me I did not do it because I had no other options. I asked her to marry me because I had fallen in love with her and I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. There is a major difference between choosing someone when you have no other choice and choosing someone in the midst of options. That is what makes marriage so powerful. In the midst of options we choose that one person who has awakened our hearts. This generation, in the midst of immense options, is choosing Jesus. What a powerful statement. As we lead them into encounters with Jesus they will encounter His radical love for them. The response to coming face to face with the love of Jesus is to commit yourself to a life of holiness. Holiness is being set apart. It’s a life that says, “My life is yours completely -my dreams, my desires, my time, my energy, my finances, my strengths, my talents, my hobbies – all of it is Yours.” Holiness is not a result of discipline but it is a result of encounters. It’s a cry in our heart that says, “I long to look like my Father who is Holy.” It’s a burning in our heart that longs to be set apart so that Jesus can be glorified in the earth. Anytime I am struggling with sin or struggling with being set apart for Jesus, I must get into His Presence to encounter again His love for me. When that happens I easily give up those things that have been hindering my relationship with Him.

EVANGELISM: A life that loves to share with others the love of Jesus Culture
II Kings 7 tells the story of four lepers in Samaria, which was in famine because the Syrians had cut off their food supplies. The lepers realized they could either die from starvation or they could go to the camp of the Syrians and perhaps they would have mercy on them and feed them. When they approached the camp of the Syrians it was empty. The Lord had caused the Syrians to hear an approaching army and they fled. Immediately, the lepers began to feast on the food and drink that was left behind and grabbed silver, gold, and clothing. As they were feasting they stopped and said, “We are not doing right. This is a day of good news, and we remain silent.” They city of Samaria was still in famine while they were feasting. Conviction came on them that they must not only feast on what God had done but they must share that feast with those who were hungry. I believe with all of my heart that when we lead people into an encounter with the love of Jesus not only will their response be a life of holiness, but it will also be a life of evangelism. How easy is it to tell people the good news of Jesus when we ourselves have been feasting on love that has changed our lives!

The Greek word ‘aphesis’ means forgiveness. But in this particular verse it’s translated as both deliverance and liberty. Isn’t it interesting that deliverance and liberty are directly tied together with forgiveness?

One of the most effective tools the enemy uses to steal our joy is unforgiveness. With just a little foothold of unforgiveness in our lives, we can easily become bound with chains of bitterness, resentment, anger and rage. If we let that foothold linger without dealing with it, eventually it will lead to our own self-destruction.

Let’s not let the unrighteous actions of others toward us become a stumbling block in our walk. We have been forgiven much and in the same way, we must release those who’ve hurt us to the Lord. But when we release them, we’ll find that the person we’ll really be releasing is ourselves!
