Jacobs Dream

I love the story of Jacobs Latter and of Jacobs vivid prophetic dream. There have been so many different interpretations of this vision/dream. Many of the interpretations have been so far fetched and out there but some have been very intriguing but I believe that what Jacob was seeing in this dream was so significant that it is worth taking a look at. Check out the following verses of scripture from Genesis 28.
Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran. 11 So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. 12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: “I am the LORD God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.” 17 And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!” Genesis 28:10-13
Jacob awoke from this dream and this was not just any typical dream this was what is called a prophetic dream or in simpler terms a God dream a dream that God gives us to speak of things to come or things we need to pray for. Unlike me my wife has had these type of dreams. At first they seem so far fetched then something takes place and I just have to shake my head and say, are you kidding me, SHUT UP!
Lets look at the two things he saw and what specifically they mean. The first is he said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.” The question is was he talking about a physical place? NO. He wasn’t in a physical building he was out in a field. So was he talking about a group of people? No he wasn’t near any physical person. He was seeing John 1:14; “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” He was seeing Jesus the one that was to come, the one that would make it possible for man to become carriers of Glory.
Have you ever been in a service or a place and some people are having their lives totally turned upside down and others are checking their text messages or facebooks on their phone, unaffected by what is happening. That is God coming and moving within our earthly vessels. This is what Jacob was seeing.
The next thing or second thing Jacob mentioned was, “This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!” He witnessed in this dream that the lives of these vessels of God would be the gate way to heaven or heaven on earth. The bible says, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7. Our vessels or earthly bodies naturally have the potential to carry Gods excellency of his power.
We need to realize that our lives are important, Romans 8:28 says, ”And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” God has purpose for our lives but we will never realize the full potential of our lives with out embracing Gods love and allowing Him to speak to our hearts the plans and thoughts that he has for us. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” This speaks of destiny a life of more than what we could ever imagine. See God wants to do far above anything we could ask or think. Lets embrace this life and go after the deeper things of God. See deep is calling out to deep. The deep things of God are reaching out for the deep rooted potential within our lives, lets go after it.
